St Wilfrid’s Hospice – Updated Information
St Wilfrid’s Hospice is a local charity, making a difference to local lives. We provide specialist palliative and end of life care and all of our high quality services are provided free of charge to patients and their loved ones. We receive just 15% of our funding from the NHS so we rely on public support to raise 85% of our annual running costs, which this year will be just over £7.5 million. Our services include a 14-bed Inpatient Unit, a Community Nursing team – including Hospice at Home which provides care in people’s homes, a Day Hospice, a Community Nursing Team, psychological and social care, occupational therapy and physiotherapy, emotional and spiritual support and a complementary therapy team.
Since opening our doors to our first patient in January 1987, St Wilfrid’s Hospice has cared for more than 16,000 local people. At any one time we care for over 260 people at the Hospice, in hospital and in their own homes, including care and residential homes and also offer support to their families and friends.
